Ideal for daily Sandhya and [planetary balance through Surya worship](/en/blog/what-is-saturn-in-vedic-astrology).

Chaupai vyahritis
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः
Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah
Om — the primordial sound of Brahman. Bhuh — the earth plane (physical realm). Bhuvah — the atmospheric plane (mental and vital realm). Svah — the celestial plane (heavenly realm of bliss). These three Mahavyahritis invoke the three worlds before the core mantra.
Chaupai 1
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं
Tat Savitur Varenyam
That adorable radiance of Savitur (the divine Sun, source of all life and knowledge).
Chaupai 2
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
We meditate upon the divine light (Bharga) of that deity.
Chaupai 3
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्
Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat
May He inspire and illumine our intellects (dhiyah) toward the righteous path.
About Gayatri Mantra
Gayatri Mantra is one of the most revered devotional hymns in the Hindu tradition, dedicated to Goddess Gayatri / Savitur (Divine Sun). Recited by millions of devotees, it invokes divine grace, mental steadiness, and protection from negative influences.
- Planetary Remedy for Sun (Surya): In Vedic astrology, this hymn is widely recommended during Sun (Surya) Mahadasha, Antardasha, or challenging transits to harmonize planetary energy and reduce karmic pressure.
Benefits of Recitation
- Purifies the mind and sharpens intellect — foundational for all Vedic remedies
- Invokes Savitur's radiance across all three planes (physical, mental, spiritual)
- Traditionally recited at Sandhya (dawn, noon, dusk) for daily spiritual discipline
- Supports clarity during Surya Mahadasha and strengthens weak Sun placements in the birth chart
Best Time and Method
Recite 108 times daily at Brahma Muhurta (before sunrise), noon Sandhya, or evening Sandhya. Sit facing east. Begin with Om, then the three Vyahritis, then the 24-syllable Gayatri verse. Use a sphatik (crystal) or tulsi mala. Maintain brahmacharya and sattvic diet for best results.
Astrological Significance
Regular recitation aligns the mind with dharmic discipline — the foundation of all Vedic remedies. Pair this practice with honest conduct, seva (selfless service), and consistency rather than fear-based ritual alone.
Gayatri is called Veda Mata — the mother of all Vedas. For understanding how planetary periods interact with daily spiritual practice, see Vimshottari Dasha Guide. A strong Surya in the chart supports confidence and authority; Gayatri japa is the classic remedy to strengthen solar energy alongside Saturn remedies when both grahas need balance.
